Dr. Diane Shieh

DMD, MMSc, Invisalign Gold Provider

I am a native Virginian, and the oldest of four. Growing up, I played the piano and enjoyed team sports like field hockey and lacrosse. When it was time for college, I came to New England and never left.

I was fortunate to attend Wellesley College, where I double-majored in Biology and Art History. From there, I graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine with my dental degree. I completed my orthodontic training and received my Master’s in Medical Sciences at Harvard University’s School of Dental Medicine.

Over these 11 years of schooling, I was the recipient of numerous distinctions and awards, a leader of my class, and graduated with highest honors all along the way.

Outside of dentistry, I’m a mom to two amazing teens, and my personal interests are diverse but include cooking, knitting, staying fit, volunteering with the Rotary, watching football, and watching documentaries.

The best part of being an orthodontist is the transformation: watching kids grow up into young adults, and working with a team to finish complex cases. My favorite part of orthodontics is having relationships with families that grow over time.

ABO Certification

I am also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). This certification involves rigorous written and clinical examinations, demonstrating a commitment to patient care. In order to maintain this status, I must recertify every 10 years, proving my pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence in orthodontics.

Choosing a board-certified orthodontist means entrusting your smile to a professional dedicated to excellence and continuous improvement.

Treatment Philosophy & Mission Statement

Choosing an orthodontist is a big decision. I value my relationship with you and will work hard to exceed your expectations. See what my patients have to say about their experiences.

Conservative philosophy. This means that you will only be given treatment recommendations when it is clear that there is real benefit. Your chief concerns, long-term dental health and function dictate my recommendations.

Timing is everything. I am unique among my peers in that I believe in starting full treatment later to keep your treatment times shorter. The benefits to shorter treatment are a more motivated patient, less time making sacrifices in your routines, and healthier mouths.

Dedicated student. My commitment to professional development means that I stay current with the best I can offer you and your family. To this end, I continue to be an avid student attending as many continuing education courses as I can. I also lead and participate in several local and regional study clubs where I learn with your dentists and other specialists, and orthodontists from other areas.
